Charles Fleming papers, 1987-1992.

The daily activity reports span the years 1987 to 1992 and cover the inner-workings of the North Dakota Governor's office for those years. The reports, usually 2-3 pages, were compliled by Fleming from information submitted by each staff person and were circulated only among office personnel. They were used to inform the governor and his staff of activities that occurred the previous day and plans for the future. The report was to be on the governor's desk by 9 a.m. each day. The newspaper clippings cover press releases and other newspaper articles for the years of 1987 to 1992. They were clipped out of newspapers from across the state and then photocopied. They cover important events concerning politics and government. They are organized chonologically by month, but not necessarily by day. There is no index or contents listings.

George A. Sinner was born May 19, 1928, the youngest of four children of Albert and Katherine (Wild) Sinner. The family lived on a farm near Casselton, N.D. He attended St. John's Preparatory School and went on to obtain college degree from Saint John's University at Collegeville, Minnesota. Charles (Chuck) Fleming was born at Grafton, N.D., graduated from NDSU, served in U.S. Army, farmed near Hamilton, N.D., member of the N.D. House of Representatives. He served as campaign manager for successful governor candidate George Sinner and was chief of staff in his administration. He currently resides in Bismarck, N.D. George A. Sinner was born in Fargo in 1928, but was raised in Casselton. He attended St. John's University in Minnesota, receiving a degree in philosophy in 1950 before serving in the Air Force until 1951. In 1952 he became a partner in Sinner Brothers & Bresnahan, a small-grain, sugarbeet and cattle feeding family partnership in Casselton.
